I don't look down on anyone based on their completed count. It doesn't really matter how many animes they have watched.

It's Covid, it's expected that people are watching more.
And then there are others who play loads of games, or watch a lot of movies, people don't judge them.

Absolutely not because most of them are in their 30s & 40s. Of course, they'll have more anime in completed.

No? Maybe its just me.

Not necessarily, I've seen people with 4k anime with completely normally normal social lives. They just tend to hang in completely different circles in real life that also fit their love for their hobby, etc. People who actively consume only anime and not any other media at all.

I just wonder how are they able to sustain their love for anime for such a long time.

My love for anime has greatly diminished in the last 5 years. I've tried to revive it multiple times but it's almost gone completely. :(((

No. I don't really think anything other than "wow he really likes anime".

More anime watched = the bigger their dick is

Hmm.. I suppose you meant jealousy huh?

When seeing someone who has more, it triggers the innate sinful nature. Bear in mind that a peaceful heart gives life to the body, while envy rots the bones.

I don't usually look at the numbers on people's profile. It's more like looking out for similarity in anime or manga and something in common to chat and get to know another person.

It's very easy to forget and take for granted just how much free time (or just time in general) we get on this Earth, as well as the fact that we all have different views and values regarding how we aim to spend all that time.
For example, while someone might see a 2-hour walk or a night out as a waste of time, for someone else, it's a necessary battery charger. The same applies to anime or any other artsy hobby.

I, for one, have a pretty rich social life, a healthy relationship, and a ton of different interests on the side, and I still clock in an enormous amount of time every month on anime, manga, and games, while still managing to take care of my responsibilities.
Do I see the time I spend on anime, manga, games, and the like as a waste? No.
Why? Because I never spend time on those hobbies out of boredom, but instead have a dedicated time in my day that I like to spice up with art and entertainment.

What I'm trying to say is that you're only wasting your time if you're doing something either when you shouldn't be doing it or when you'd rather be doing something else.
So while you might feel the need to spend only 2 hours or so of your daily free time on anime and spend the rest socializing or pursuing another hobby, someone else might spend nearly all of that time watching anime and still get the same amount of fulfillment out of every second. And that's perfectly fine.

It's important to remember not to project your own value system onto others, imo, 'cause that's the perfect recipe for yucky and unnecessary judgement :/

No, i reach out to them to ask for recommendations and also what anime aren't worth the watch. I kinda respect them for that too, cause that takes a lot of time.

I only look down on people who think that having watched more shows somehow makes their opinion heavier than others. Also, I look down on people who add a number of short anime to inflate their total number of completed shows. Also, I just look down on people.

honestly it depends, if they have a lot of shorts than no, if they don't have shorts i kind of tart wondering why they spent so much time on anime without passing to manga awhich is 100 times better, and also why they spent so much time on the medium in general

Do you care more about days watched than completed anime? If that so, what number of days is appropriate for you?

I've seen more than double, while maintaining a full time job, a hobby, working out, a day off for hanging with friends, my kid, etc life stuff.

If you enjoy something, you MAKE time...
Get 6-2pm or 7-3pm hours, make the physical hobby related to anime like a card game, work out with an episode or movie on, have your friends watch and talk about anime too when they hang, get your kids into anime so you can watch at the same time, etc.

Also, a full season without commercials is usually 4-5 hours. On a day off work with nothing planned, you can watch 3 short series, get 8 hours of sleep, and still have 4 hours for daily life things if needed. LOL

NO EXCUSES!

I would wager most of us are in our mid/late 20s or over. I started watching anime about ten years ago myself, just after I left High School. Can generally get in 6-12 episodes on a work day quite comfortably.

No, why would I?

Of course they have a life by definition. They're alive. Simple as that.

When someone says "So and so doesn't have a life" what they really mean is "That person doesn't live their life the way I would want to if I were them" or "That person doesn't live their life in line with the way I believe they should and the way I believe other people should live their lives" in a busybody sense.

Everyone who is alive has a life, literally, and the intrinsic value of it and what anyone chooses to do with their time isn't something can which be defined by others.

I've seen over 3000 anime and not only have a full time job but also have a bunch of other hobbies other than anime. Having a big list doesn't mean you can't also have a life.

In terms of social life I do have friends, but I haven't seen them in a while because of covid.

People look down on people who have seen a lot to make themselves feel better about themselves in a very shallow way. I refuse to believe people have a legitimate reason to look down on others who have seen a lot for any other reason than pettiness.

Umm, no? I just figure they've been watching anime for a long time. I mean, I've been watching anime for 11 years and that's literally the only reason why I have 1,156 completed anime. It accumulates over the years. I figure if you watch around 100 anime a year (sometimes more, sometimes less) your number will get up there the more years you watch.

Now with so many 1 cour series, reaching 2000 series is the easiest thing. 1 series every 1-3 days, meaning in 4 years you will have exceeded that number

I mean if I ever look down on them, I'd be looking down on myself (I've watched a lot of films), and I wouldn't want that. I don't know if you could call what I have a proper life or not, as I've spent a lot of time watching and reading stuffs that probably won't help me in my future job. But, at least for me, I feel like I can still balance my time working and enjoying myself. And I love to enjoy myself, so I consider my life worth living. 2000 anime is ok, it's probably not too bad especially since most people who have watched this many are probably at their late 20s at least. But there's a line to everything. Like 7000 anime seems absurd. Or maybe if you've watched 10k films and you're not a film critic who pay rent with the movies you watched or sth, then probably, just probably, you really are wasting your life.
